Church Dome in Chideock, Dorset
Highly commended in the King of Prussia Gold Medal Award 2014
The Church of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs and St. Ignatius is an historic and fascinating building of Italianate inspiration. The church has evolved from origins as an 18th Century barn to become a unique and richly decorated building. The project was to reinstate a tiled dome with a design derived from surviving photographs. The main challenge of the project was to arrange manufacture of the uniquely shaped tiles and to ensure the correct polychromatic diagonal tiling.
